"This was a commission for a friend who wanted a box for his chess set. The objective was to create an heirloom quality box which he could pass onto his children (or at least one of them!); it also needed to be robust enough to survive on a sailing boat. The wood was supplied by the customer and is fine quality teak left over from the restoration of the 19th century clipper yacht "Cutty Sark" around 2008. The fillets are English Sycamore."
