I bought this jig so I could install the HD-638 quadrant hinges with precision on a humidor I’m making out of high end exotic hardwoods.
I was going to use a shop made jig, but I didn’t want to screw this up, considering the amount of money that I have invested in the wood, and the time I have invested in the build.
The jig is very well made and should produce a flawless fit for the hinges. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out as planned. I blame most of it on my skill, however, the directions are lacking details.
If there was a detailed video, explaining the process, I think I would have had better luck. Now that I spent the money on the jig, I’m stuck buying the HD-638 hinges ($50+) that the jig is made for.
I hope my next try with this jig turns out better. I will be building a new humidor, as I can’t give a humidor as a gift that has a sloppy hinge install.
