Keepsake Box from David Marx and Scott Ingram

These photos were submitted by David Marx and Scott Ingram. They used our JB-804 stop hinges and JB-828 box latch.

"I (David Marx) am an amateur metal craftsman and have been married to a French Horn player (Carol Marx) for almost 40 years. It was high time I made her something in my basement workshop. This project was jointly done with my fellow craftsman Scott Ingram. We live in Toronto, Ontario.

The attached photos show the box in detail. The information all over the box, including the bottom, tells the story of Carol and what she wanted to be remembered for. In the far distant future, our descendants will have this box and it will provide a glimpse into their remarkable ancestor Carol. The box has a clear voice and tells a vivid story and this was our intention from the start.

There are three gemstones used in this project. A blue Lapis Lazuli, three red rubies and three green emeralds. The box took almost two years for Scott and I to complete this project. It’s more complicated than it looks.

The Brusso brass hinges and front latch provide a beautiful decorative element to the piece. Brusso makes splendid hardware."
